Position: Director of Annual Giving and Donor Engagement
Reports to: Chief Development Officer
Located: Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Virginia Administrative Office, Charlottesville, VA
Salary Range: $45,000-$55,000 annually, plus benefits
Classification: Exempt

Position Summary:

The director of annual giving and donor engagement, working closely with the chief development officer, staff and the chief executive officer, will have responsibility for the following areas: annual giving appeals, special events, cultivation and solicitation of individual donors, newsletters, marketing and the use of social media vehicles, as well as significant involvement with office operations for Clubs located in Charlottesville/Albemarle. This is an ideal job for a personable, mission driven, tech savvy, energetic and professional individual with at least 5 years of nonprofit development experience, or the equivalent.

Responsibilities:
• Working with volunteer committees, boards, vendors and staff, oversee and execute fundraising/ stewardship special events during the year, implementing strategies to maximize operating revenues. Annual events include, but are not limited to, Big Gig, Cycling Challenge, Milbank Society and Holiday Party.
• Assist with initiatives to expand prospect research and facilitate contacts with donors in collaboration with appropriate staff, volunteers and board members. Identify and manage a portfolio of high-potential event donors for mission-centered cultivation and solicitation.
• Strategize, design and execute high impact annual fund appeals. Work will
include segmenting and targeting solicitations, and ensuring timely mailings.
• Work with appropriate personnel/consultants to help conceptualize, develop and produce marketing materials, including newsletters, annual appeals, the website, Facebook page and an annual report.
• Assist in the development and evaluation of appropriate budgets.
• Other duties as required

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree
• Five or more years of experience in a fast-paced and friendly nonprofit and/or related corporate environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with volunteers.
• Results-oriented and driven, with an entrepreneurial approach to fundraising and
problem solving.
• Strong organizational, management and communications skills, with excellent writing ability.
• A high level of computer skills. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel
and PowerPoint. Publisher, Photoshop and Sage Fundraising 50 (or similar development software) is a plus.
• A professional and resourceful style with the ability to work independently and as
a team player; to take initiative and manage multiple tasks and projects.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as appropriate.
